Why the NOW Group?
When we sat down to discuss supporting a charity, it very quickly became apparent that we wanted to support an organisation that worked locally. Also, given the nature of our business - that our voices are how we make a living - we were also interested in helping those to whom speech and language can be a barrier to accessing employment.
What is the NOW Group, and what do they do?
NOW is an award-winning social enterprise based in Belfast supporting people with learning difficulties and autism into jobs with a future. They provide a range of services that support people with learning difficulties and autism to realise their full potential and change their lives for the better. The NOW Group's services focus on supporting people into employment, training, transition and volunteering. They also offer a family service to support new and expectant parents with a learning difficulty or autism, and - thorough LOAF catering - use donations to help alleviate food poverty locally.
The NOW Group's social enterprises include: LOAF Catering (award-winning local food); LOAF Pottery (a newly opened pottery and coffee shop); JAM (the Just A Minute card and app); and GAUGE IMPACT. Profits from these support people with learning difficulties and autism into jobs with a future.
What is Irish Voiceovers doing to help?
Aside from proving whatever financial assistance we can - including directly funding new weekly 'NOW Drama' sessions - we also have several collaborations in the works, utilising our experience in audio production to spread the word about the amazing work the NOW Group is doing, while also helping more parents and young people access help.
